Ultraviolet Grasslands is a science-fantasy point-crawl setting created by Luka Rejec and published by WizardThiefFighter Studio and Exalted Funeral Press.
The setting is the distant future. There have been previous civilizations (known as the “Long Ago” and the “Long, Long Ago”) that have faded away and left a medieval-level civilization behind. The result is similar to the setting of the Dying Earth or Shadow of the Torturer settings, where a less-advanced society lives surrounded by artifacts and ruins from a more advanced one.
The game is being run using Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rules, supplemented by elements the D&D Eberron campaign setting (to allow for the more steampunk aspects of the setting). I am also using Arcana of the Ancients from Monte Cook Games which incorporates science-fantasy into D&D, and Cthulhu Mythos by Sandy Petersen to handle some aspects of the setting (primarily the cats of the Violet City).
There is no specific “goal” to the campaign, only that the characters each have their own reasons for going to the Black City, located on the far side of the Ultraviolet Grasslands. The campaign will be a bit like Oregon Trail in which the focus will be on what the characters do or encounter along the way.
